Motor Selection Thread #12930923149238419023491238490
your car, your decision. search around a bit, there's a lot to learn here. part of what's so nice about hondas is that they're reliable and a lot of different things work together, which gives you OPTIONS.
To reiterate...if you SEARCH you'll find plenty of info to make the decision...and it's your car, YOUR decision.
EDIT: in the interest of providing some constructive input, I've read some stuff on here and decided that turbo d-series is the way to go once I start building...unfortunately I'm in a bit of a high-theft-risk area right now.

If you stick with a turbo d, don't worry about the mileage. The d-series engines are so inexpensive that if you bought a high mileage car for 3k less, it would only cost you about $500 to swap one in.
I like by B-series. It is nice, but sometimes I think about turbo or B20/vtec, just for fun. But then again, I have a lot bigger aspirations for my car if all goes well.

I'd have to say search it really is too much of a personal opinion but if you want a turbo D i have a brand new kit FS see sig... what ever you do im sure you'd be happy i would shy away from the lsvtec thing personally. good luck...
dude get a jdm d15b motor for like 500 bucks shipped to your house thats if you want a motor with low miles and boost the **** out of it you will be fast than a ls/vtec b16a or a ls and that **** is so fun and fast. thats the way I would go and I am loving it.

this thread will become too opinionated. I can think of 30 reasons why to get EACH one of those choices....get what YOU want.
We'll help you how to fix it...but we cant help you decide on what you want unless you're comparing a stock b20 to a b18c1...then we'll make the decision for ya!
Good luck though man.

u said an ls vtec for 4500...if your installing your motor i did my entire gsr swap with lsd transmission from hmotorsonline and it cost like 3700.00 and im at 170whp i would go that route im a big gsr fan just because they got that block girdle and there very unlikely for detonation... even if you wanted to do a d16 swap with a turbo reliable is all i how u take care of it for example oil changes and any little maintence... but yea i got a jdm gsr from hmotorsonline with all the necessary swap components aka axles, linkage, mounts.. for 3700.00 just my .02 and also a good idea would be searching up "project civic" in the archived search section youll find a lot of good advice there
an ls vtec is like a ls motor and transmission with a b16 head on it.. gsr is a better transmission and just better all around but i mean do what u want... d16 is so little it just looks funny 2 me lol
