i have code 14 on and off. its werid... what should i do about my ivac? does it need to a replaced or can it just be cleaned. i searched and didnt get any thing.. thanks guys

You must not have searched very hard if you couldn't come up with a solution to an IACV problem. It's the most commonly used word on HT, other than "noob" "search" and "jdm" ....

Just take the IACV off, and hose it down with carb cleaner. Let it air dry, and then reinstall.

I'm going to assume the ivac means IACV (idle air control valve) for two reasons, one, it has the same letters...just with no orientation, and secondly, a code 14 is the IACV. It depends, you can pull it off, clean it out throw it back on, and see if it works, but sometimes it doesn't and you're just better off new one, they're not expensive. Try cleaning it first.

Just keep in mind that whether you buy a new one, buy a used one, or do anything that requires you to take it off, on a decade old car, the IACV gasket is nice and rottedout, so when you pull it off there's about a 80% chance that it will not re-seal. So just buy another IACV gasket before you take it off so you won't get a vacuum leak when you put it back on.

Have you cleaned yours out, cleared the code, and then tried driving? Don't worry about a new one till you're sure your old one's fucked.

No theyre not all the same.......

Try this first:
Clean the connectors (both harness and valve's) with a little break cleaner.
Then, also with brake cleaner, clean out the inside of the valve assembly, to remove carbon and gunk.
Replace the gasket.
Then, put a glob of dielectric grease (aka bulb grease) on the electrical connectors.

I was having a lot of iacv trouble a few years ago, until I did just what I said above. Been over 2yrs now, no issues.

You can buy the IACV separately from the manifold, despite what the counter says... But why not try doing what I suggest first? Its a whole lot cheaper.

 

Just buy the gasket or ur gonna have a vacuum leak, can almost guarantee it.

Try buying one from a junkyard, you said LS so any '94-'01 IACV will work.

I don't know much about the interchangeability but if they all use the same IACV like somebody said then they probably all have the same gasket.

Any '94-'01 gasket should work. Just call the dealership and tell them the year of your LS, the gasket's like 6 bux.

Just get it b4 u pull the IACV or u could be looking at a vacuum leak...which isn't the worst thing but creates a flux idle which just sucks dick.

I order the gasket for for LS motor, it came to 2 bucks and come change..

 

should i replace the hoses also?
