i seem to be throwing a low oil pressure CEL alot lately... the weather is crappy right now, cold and raining, and i use mobil 5-30.. and i seem to be losing oil pressure.. this happen to anybody else with a type R? it only happens on the freeway and after awhile of driving... im thinking of switching weights...
I'll keep you posted if I notice a difference in consumption. I get those 5 qt. jugs of M1 from WalMart fairly cheap at $21 and they were out of 10w-30, so I just refilled with 5 weight.
yeah when i was using the 5-30 it wasnt buring but it was goin somewhere, i whould check it and it whould be low pretty quick
started using 10-40 and was fine
im rebuilding my motor now and im just gonna use 10-40 full synthetic from the start to be safe

I notice a lot of customers complain about oil consumption when they use synthetic oil. Have been a tech for honda for about 9 years and most people who use it complain about it....so it tell them not to use it. I don't know what it is about the synthetic stuff. Actually if you go to Honda for a oil change it is semi-sythetic oil that they put in, but i get no complaints about that. go figure.
5W-30 Mobil1 for entire 110k. Burns 1 qt every 3000 mi, just like my S2K and 97 GSR... Never had any low pressure problems.
other than burning a little less than a quart every 3500 miles (depending on how I drive) I have been fine with 5w30. No issues here man.
wow, I used to run 5/30 and I would burn 2-3 quarts between changes. My last track day I went through 4 quarts.
Now I fill up with 20/50 and still burn some of it off.

I use 5w30 and change the oil per manufacturers recommendations. Every 3750 miles. I burn about 1/2 of a quart in the first 2750 miles and about 1/2-3/4 of a quart in the last 1000 miles
This is using Castro Synthetic on a 97' ITR with 102,000 miles

I always use 5w30. 10w40 is toooo thick IMO (< Honda Tech). Honda recommends certain weights for a reason. I use the Valvoline DuraBlend 5w 30, and I don't burn any.
More than likely most everyone that burns a lot, sucks it through the PCV- the Endyn block breather kit works awesome for this!!!!
