motor low on oil!
my motor is super low on oil. im a teen and im BROKE cuz of prom. haha. well anyways, i jus found out my motor has very very very very little oil left (if any). my parents hate my loud *** integra, they alredy told me they dont want nothing to do with it. i dont get paid till 2 weeks from now from my job, so i was wondering if i can jus put in 10w-40 motor oil in the meantime. i usually put 10w-30 but will it be that much of a difference? is it safe? this is just in the meantime until i get the money for a full oil change, which will be in around 2 weeks.

5W-30 is the recommended weight. If it's absolutely all you have, use the 10W-40, since it will be better than running extremely low on oil. However, a few quarts of 5W-30 shouldn't cost you more than $5.

Re: motor low on oil! (Padawan)
id say stick in the 10w-40, keep the revs down, and get your oil changed asap.
better to run thick oil than no oil at all.
(edit) the best thing to do would be spend the 5-10 bucks to get a cupple quarts of 5 or 10w-30, or ask some of your friends if they have any you can borrow.
