Default What type of oil? Synthetic or Non-synthetic!

Have heard of people saying to use the thicker non-synthetic oil to stop oil consuption. This should not need to be done the engine should not burn oil with any oil.

On a built turbo engine does it matter if its synthetic or non-synthetic?

I personally run synthetic because it can withstand heat better than a non-synthetic oil but it is thinner and more prove to leak. My motor only has 40,000 miles on it so I haven't had any leakage problems yet.

I used to use mobil1 10w30 synthetic, but when my next motor is finished up, I'm gonna be trying out the Valvoline VR1 racing oil. I think it's straight 50 weight

I have allways ran NON synthetic, if i change, will there be any problems with it? I dont know how seals, rubber, gaskets ETC. will react to it.

Thanks.

Why do you want to use the staright 50W?
Maybe since the car wont be driven when its cold so you can run the thicker oil?
I would be careful upon startup!
Mine is an daily driver Im using some BMW Synthetic oil but its Free, maybe i will start buying the MOBILE 1!

royal purple straight 50 weight or 20-50 racing 51. those 2 oil weights keep up the oil pressure 10 psi higher than other oils i have used.

my car stock says to use 5w40, but mobil 1 comes in 5w30 synthetic, i like how it doesnt get so thick when you change it like regular, i would say use it "it prevents thermal breakdown" hahha, just when you go synthetci, you cant go back, nothing will happen
anyone know about "agip" oil? i see it in the backgrouns in euro races on speed channel

So which is the best oil to use for a boosted Prelude that runs 12psi daily. Thicker oil or thinner....? I am currently using valvoline 10w-30 and it's no good.

The old myth about "once you use synthetic you cant go back" is bullshit.

The myth was probably started by the oil companies, to keep you buying.

I use Mobil 1 15W-50 which is recommended by Mobil 1 on their website for turbo or supercharged cars.

synthetic is definitely better it seems
Just making sure it was ok, engine has leaks and smokes slightly.
Im going to re-ring it and replace the head gasket again.

Can synthetic be used directly after the rebuild or should you
use the regular oil to break it in until the 1st oil change
after a couple hundred miles then switch to synthetic.

when i broke in my car i put non-synthetic oil in and changed after 500 miles and put in some more non-synthetic oil and changed to synthetic 500 miles later.

Engine has 233K miles and 5k with turbo. Only use Mobil 1 5w-30 and have no leakage or burning issues.
