[D4] light coming on with CEL (A/T)
00 Civic EX Coupe / Automatic
i'm not sure what this means, i've never seen nor heard of this before. when i turn my key to the 'ON' position the CEL comes on as usual for a few seconds, but the D4 light (indicating that my car is in drive) comes on and goes off with it. anyone have en explination? is this a transmission code being thrown?

bump, looking for something a little more definitive. i appreciate that though and it puts me at ease. i'd just like to know if there is an actual REASON this is happening.

tranny shifts smoothly, i'm suprised i dont feel it. only 69k on the car, weird. guess i gotta finish gathering parts for my manual swap a little sooner than planned.

Dude this is probably stupid but, did u just notice this and get freaked out? Because the only problem ive read about is when the d4 light is actually blinking itself, which means u go to the dealer and check out the code its throwing.
Maybe it needs a change of tranny fluid, Sorry im no help, But maybe we'll find a solution somehow.

D4 means it is throwing a tranny code, not that the fluid needs to be changed. The problem 90% of the time we see at the dealer is one of the sensors is out of range caused by a slight slip. It could also be one of the solenoids but without hooking up the honda HDS you can't really correctly diagnose the problem.
