Default d series alternator

Using the Explict Mount I was thinking about doing a d series alternator along with a lightweight battery. Will I have any problems with dimming lights or power problems? Car will have a flipscreen headunit and just speakers no high powered audio system. The alternator will be from a 92-95 civic.

Get an 85 amp rebuilt alternator from ebay seller 'Alterstart'. I am running one right now with the Odyssey battery you've been asking about and it's stronger than the stock Prelude alternator (or at least stronger than my old one ). I don't think you would have a problem.

They also offer high-power D-series alternators up to I think 300-400 amps if you're not sure

What i mean is , is there any disadvantage or possible problem with getting a higher amp alternator ? Keep in mind I will have a lightweight battery so idk if that would be good or bad.

No disadvantage that I kow of...you'll just have more available electrical power to run accessories and charge the battery. Sounds good to me

Any performance advantage or disadvantage ? For example lightening the rotating mass on the motor will increase power (ie. power steering removal, balance shaft removal). Will having a higher amp alternator be more stress on the motor or because its pully driven it wont matter regardless ?

OK, I see what you meant...yeah it will be harder to turn and will cause more parasitic loss in hp.

I don't have a radio or anything extra other than some gauges and stuff so I'm good with 85 amps. You'd probably want to get that 135 amp. Stock H alt should be somewhere around 80-90 amp...someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah, the alternators probably have no more than a 1lb difference between eachother. It's mainly the brackets and bolts.

I believe the alternator was $100 or so shipped (I needed a new one badly anyway) and the kit was $78 shipped.

Not bad. The bracket for the h22/23 is definitely ridiculous and heavy... I will be looking into this for a winter upgrade
