Just needed some input regarding my catch can/scavenge set-up. It's basically two -12AN ports on the front of the valve cover and also utilizing one of the oem ports on the rear of the block all leading to a modified Moroso can with three -12AN fittings. I would like to pull some vaccum from the can so I've decided to try the exhaust scavenge method using the parts below. I'm also wondering if it would be better to place the weld-on fitting before or after the cat converter and if welding on two scavenge fittings will further increase vaccum. Finally, what would be the effect if I left the can filter on while also using the scavenge method. In relation to this post https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1199935, I should see about .5 to 1 psi with this method. The whole exhuast system is 3" from downpipe to a straight through 3" muffler. I hope my drawing can clealry explain what I'm doing. Once I get my parts back from the welder I'll post actual pics.

haha, isnt chris miller, the moderater "miller's" name as well ?

 

I would place the steel tube fitting after the catalytic... Anything before the cat is a higher pressure zone, and the oil fumes would clog up the cat as well. You might want to add a baffle inside the catchcan near the drain area just in case the exhaust vacuum is strong enough to pull sloshing oil out of the block

 

or dont use a cat

Seems like a simple/effective catch can setup to me, please let us know how it works out for you.

Total project cost? Minus the -AN fittings for the valve cover, etc.

 

I E-mailed Moroso regarding the scavenge set-up and they say that it will not work with a cat converter and/or a muffler. The set-up is designed for open headers and full race applications according to the tech. I may still attempt to use it regardless. If I use a test pipe with a straight flow muffler I don't see why I would not generate vacuum especially while in boost and full throttle. In part throttle however, there may not be enough flow across the scavenge fitting to create vacuum. I guess the only way to find out is to use my boost/vaccum gauge inline and see the results. Here's some pics of the modified Moroso can and the valve cover. Next step is to figure out what color I should powder coat it.

I looked at that one. The only problem is that it's 13" tall so I won't be able to mount that anwhere and have enough hood clearance.
