OBD2 to OBD1=Power Fluctuation
I recently switched over to an OBD1 ecu because I will be going with hondata again soon in the future. (2000 cx hatch, 2000 b18c1, 2000 GSR ECU now OBD1 p72)
It seems that now at night I notice a dimming of my interior lights, and headlights at times.
Then for a while the lights will go back to the old brightness, and then back dim again. It seems like it could be throttle or rpm dependent, but I can't tell for sure. Seems more random to me.
I don't remember this with the OBD2b ecu. Is there something with the ELD or some difference between the OBD1 and obd2 ecu that could be causing this? I thought I remember reading someone saying you need to disconnect something from the alternator when switching to OBD1 and hondata?
I also get a strange idle that goes up and down until the car is fully warmed up.
Any advice would be appreciated.

yeap, poor conversion harness's can cause this situation. Its not a big deal, just the eld freaking out.

I had this problem when i went to hondata, Let me dig up my fix,
Actually what happens is the alternator turns off and on, I had a homemade harness and I tried a skunk2 harness, no difference, I had to cut a Wire to the alternator
Stay tuned and ill post the how to fix directions

I just swapped in a p72 OBD I ECU in my gsr and i also have the idle problem sometimes. It will idel so low sometimes that the car will turn off right away. I would also like to know what could cause this problem.

Ok, for the people who have the "power fluctuation" try disconnecting the alt c wire. By simply cutting it on the harness for me, fixed the problem altogether. Try at your own risk, make sure you figure out which wire alt c is. Ill try to give u guys more info later, but now im at a group meeting (and slacking )

i believe there are two alternator signal wires connected to the ecu, one is alt f and one alt c. when i disconnected alt c wire, the problem went away for good.
I will dig up the pin location when i get home.
basically, on my car, 50% of the time when i was idling, the alternator would be off, and voltage would read 12 v, then when i would accelerate or if i was over like 3000 rpms, the alternator would kick back on and read 14 v.

on version 2.5 there was no option to disable the ELD. Your experience with your harness and other's like it lead Hondata to disabling it to improve functionality

WOW, I am having this issue ever since Hondata and I had no idea how to fix it except cut the harness wire. What is ELD anyway?
I just opened my rom and clicked the checkbox for Disable ELD. Saweet!!!

i used to run 2.5 back in the day, i then sold that turbo setup, bought a new setup and used the AEM EMS.
