After MSD Install car is acting up
I just installed an MSD ignition on my 96 integra LS (wires, cap, rotor, blaster coil ss, and 6AL box. I soldered the wires and made sure everything is in the right place. The car starts, but for some reason no more than a minute the car is on it loses spark and it shuts off. It will not crank right back up immediately, but after a minute or two it will start and then the same thing, it shuts off. I think my igniter might be bad. One of my buddies told me when the igniter heats up, it might create a lot of resistance and it cannot handle all of the power from the MSD so the car will shut down. PLEASE HELP!!!!
What all do you have done to the car? Stock Honda ignition can handle somewhere around 400 HP. Unless you are boosted you really don't need MSD. I had it on my car (NA) and took it off to realize it ran so much better without.

I don't know about spray, never dealt with it. But you don't need it just for cams. You said your friend had it on his car, what did he have done? And why did he take it off?

i have a 2000 gsr running around 7 psi of boost and im thinking about getting a new wires set plugs dist and rotor just wondering if i should go with a cold temp ngks or spring for more expensive msd's? thanks for any info
How do your connections look where you soldered them? Did the solder suck into the wire like its suppose to? Also, did you check your timing after you installed the MSD? The MSD makes the signal travel further (resisitance in the wire/box, etc) thus you generally have to advance the ignition to make up for the lag in the electronic pulse. If you didnt, get a timing light and do that.....do NOT just randomly play with the distributor.

As I already stated, if your not putting down more than 400hp you don't need it. You said your running 7psi so i seriously doubt you are past 265-290. So I don't think you need it.

That's right, I forgot about advancing the timing.

not surprising, glad you figured it out

stick to oem distributor(cap and rotor too), oem or ngk wires, and ngk plugs.
