Default gas milage

im getting really bad gas milage. like 200 miles a tank and im broke, so bad gas milage doesnt help me. filter is fine, oil is changed, tires are fucked, but have been for a while. O2 sensor hasnt been changed so it could be that. should i change front or back or both. keep in mind i have no money. is there anyway i can test an o2 sensor? links or sites with cheap ones? anything at all. someone save me.

My 00 GSR has, from the day I got it in 03, only managed around 18 to 23 mpg city.

The only time I have ever gotten it up to 25, was using "hard as a rock" all season tires inflated to 45 psi, shifted at 3,200 rpm as suggested in the owners manual, and used as little pressure on the gas pedal as possible to accelerate like a grandma.

If you really want to increase your mileage, you'll need to tune it. It certainly seems like they all run rich stock.

Maybe fuel filter? Try running seafoam and/or injector cleaner or whatever that crap is called.

do they have fuel filters at autozone? i know they have some but i only looked for one when i had another car. and if it is the O2 sensor, what is my best bet, the front or the back one

oh and i did run prestone injector clear stuff in there the last tank. this tank was the first one after i did that.

fuel filter is pointless for increasing gas mileage.....if anything its going to allow for more gas to pass through.

Fuel filter, plugs, wires are all possible culprits... fuel system cleaner works real well too

tires can be a big factor too. Especially tire pressure - make sure they're at the factory specs. I'll loose up to 50 miles a tank just because of low tire pressure.

I'd cry if that was me. Lots of city/Hwy, not really babyin it, 29-31. Mid 30's highway babyin it.. And I've hit 40's driving stupidly slow/worse than any grandmother, 55 mph.

94 GSR Sedan.

Check your air cleaner.. That'll kill mileage easy. Plus, how do you drive? Thats the #1 factor when it comes to mileage.

i usually drive like an ******* on the way back from school which is like a 30 minute drive going 90 mph and constantly downshifting to pass idiots driving in the fast lane. I still get 24-27 mpg.

Damn, the guy claiming 40 mpg - That's

I avg. 32MPG mostly city driving - shifting anywhere from 3k-5k

Check your plugs, air filter, and run seafoam through the car. I'm buying a can this weekend to run through my car.

Ait cleaner is a K&N on the end of an AEM CAI. Replacing the stock arm, box, resonator, and filter with the AEM didn't seem to effect my mileage, one way or the other.

I suppose "city" driving in LA is different than many other places, and those of you who think your 32 mpg is "city" driving, need to get out here and take 30 minutes going 4 miles like my morning work commute. Literally, 4.4 miles, 30 - 45 minutes, and thats if I don't stop for cigs.

ok well i put a new fuel filter in. and it wasnt ******* easy. i didnt know it was so involved, but its done, no leaks, so im happy about that. im prob just gonna get some crappy obx wires or mid grade apc wires. i cant afford magnacor or anything and i dont wanna go back to 7 MM. i pulled the spark plugs and the tips were gray and the bottom of the electrodes was black. so its either normal, or its running rich and it obviously is.
