bad gas mileage ...
hey guys
well recently ive been experiencing bad gas milage
i dont reallu have number but it seems like ive been getting about 120 -130 miles on half a tank for about the past few half tanks
ive replaced the fule filter and i just got a new airfilter
im thinking it may be my o2 sensor but im not sure is there anyway to tell if an o2 sensor is bad or not ?
and will a z6 sensor work on a b7 ?
thanks,
Harrison

~150 per half tank is normal.
If you have 130 from half tank till when you're light comes on, you can squeeze another 40 miles out of it easily. Usually when the light comes on you have ~1.8-2.2 gallons left.

A bad o2 sensor dramatically cuts down on MPG. I was seeing about ~250 miles per full tank when my o2 sensor was shot from seafoam. After I fixed it, I went back up to the average 350+ per full tank.
How many miles on the car? How long since you've done a full tune-up? Take those things into consideration. Not just fuel filter and air filter.
And generally if an o2 sensor is just out of it's life/dead, you should be throwing a CEL. But if the car has a lot of miles and hasn't had a tune-up in over 90,000 miles, you should just replace them anyways for the sake of staying on the safe/smart side.

sometimes when your o2 sensor goes bad (or getting there) it might not though a cel. mine didn't and i was getting 250mpg to a tank. i would do like amej8 said and replace it to be on the safe side

Dang, I get 250-400 depending on how I drive, usually about 280 driving hard in the city. I have a D16A6 with the cx trans.

Wow you guys get shitty mileage. I always get 330+ and that's city driving. The longest I drive without stopping or shifting gears is about 10 minutes tops. Stock d16y8 with eBay SRI and 176,800 miles on it.
