HOW TO: Keep your Cruise Control :+: 4th GEN prelude :+:
==Okay! I replaced my steering wheel with a Momo like many of you have done, but I do drive pretty darn far at times and want my cruise control when im tiredly driving a (110 miles) trip each week.
I figured out a way to keep the cruise control after swapping to an aftermarket steering wheel. SO ENJOY !
Basic Materials:
+ Soldering Iron (RadioShack)
+ Precision Screw driver set ($.98 cent store)
+ Wire Stippers (i used my teeth and scissors) yeah im broke.
+ Wires and Connectors
THINGS YOU HAVE AND THINGS YOU NEED TO GET:
++ Steering Wheel SRS with Cruise ( Circular harness ) thing. [ You took this off when you removed your stock Steering wheel.]

++ CRUISE Control Switch

++ (THREE) Mini Connectors (Use these connectors from OEM YOUR HORN BUTTON, or go to the Junk yard like I did and get some off of any 93+ Honda with horn buttons)

++ An additional Cruise Control SOCKET. I took it off of an Accord at the junk yard. (At the junk yard, Just Cut it off, you cannot salvage the flexible wires.)

:+::+:+:+:+: :+:+:+:+THE PROCESS :+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:
1. If you look at your stock Cruise control Socket, there are 4 pins. The three consecutive pins are the cruise control which you will use. And the Isolated 4th pin is the Horn Positive which i will talk about later.

2. Now, you plug the 3 mini connector wires to the 3 pins on the socket.

3. You should have this layout now:

========= The additional Cruise Control Socket ============
4. Now You will move on to the Cut socket you picked up at the junk yard.
Again, We will only deal with the Three(3) Cruise Control PINS.
5. You must take out the pin clamp. To do so, you use 2 precision screwdrivers
and press on both sides releasing the little clamp.

6. Next you will use a 1.2mm precision screwdriver, to eject the 3 pins. Simply stick the screwdiver in each of the three holes on top, and spread out these little locking stubs. Basically the stub lock is V. You stick your screwdriver in and spread the V into | |.

7. Pull out the 3 pins seen here:

8. Now you will Solder 3 wires to the pins. I taped down the wires and pins while soldering to keep it from moving.

9. Make sure you solder neatly because you will need to stick the pins back and it's going to be tight.

10. Stick the pins back in the socket. It will Clip back in nice and tight.

:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+ CONNECTING THE TWO SOCKETS :+:+:+:+:+::+:+:
11. Simply use Wire connectors and connect the 3 wires together.

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;INSTALLATION ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
12. YOU HAVE TO TAKE OFF THE STEERING COLUMN COVER.
Plug the SRS/Cruise Control back onto the Car. Like SO:

13. Under the [Moonroof/Cruise/Gauge Dimmer switches] There is a lot of space (roomy and hollow and perfect to shove this big SRS AIRBAG harness in) like so:
Hollow Space:

Place Entire Steering SRS harness assembly like so:

14. GRAB the Cruise Control lines and plug in the Buttons.

15. You can just slide the wires behine the Steering Column Cover up to the top. I am putting the buttons here: I WILL MAKE A CARBON FIBER or plexiglass housing for the button. It's sitting like this unfastend, But don't Worry, It's Sunday NIGHT and i am out of time, I test drove the car and the CRUISE CONTROL works perfectly.

--------------------DUMB MISTAKE -- HORN BUTTON-------------
1. I BROKE THE MOMO HORN BUTTON so im just going to use the OEM horn buttons off of the OEM steering wheel.
2. Horn Button: 1 wire to Negative-Ground/ 1 wire POSITIVE: to the Socket. . simple.

3. Connect the Negative to Ground. Then the Positive To the horn wire of the new socket.

4. Find a place for your Horn Buttons and you're DONE!

I WILL MAKE A CARBON FIBER HOUSING FOR BOTH THE CRUISE SWITCH AND HORN BUTTONS. ONLY IF I HAD 25 HOURS AN DAY.

You could make this a lot simpler by just using those 3 wires back where they come out from the main harness to connect to the spool connector, that way you don't have to let the whole spool float around behind the dash, nor solder or go to the junkyard
I also want this on the FAQ, would be cool. Yes, im putting it there. It's pretty convienient there. Press it through or over the steering wheel.
Oh matt, I thought about that, But what will i do with the spool? throw it away?
You still have to Solder.
If I run the 3 wires from the socket of the main, what about the pins? I still have to solder the Pins. It is essential to solder and use the Additional socket because these sockets don't Clip on, They just slide in with no locking mechanism.
NOTE: THE PINS RUN OFF OF THESE SUPER THIN-FLEXIBLE FLATTENED WIRES. AND YOU CANT JUST CRIMP IT WITH WIRE CONNECTORS.
IF YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT "CONNECTION OF THE 3 WIRES" I wanted to use the MINI COnnectors but the wires are not long enough. Mini connector wires come from Horn Button so they are short about (6" max)

Soldering Mandatory. So, Thanks for your insight though.
I WILL WORK ON THE AIR BAG ISSUE, NOW

Soldering is not necessary
Get some generic wiring connectors from lowes, crimp them onto the ends of the wires you just stripped, and plug them onto the pins coming out of the cruise switch.
Really its not a big deal, if it was me I would solder everything just because that is just the better way to do it.
You could always put the spool up for sale, idiots ruin them all the time when playing with the steering wheel and don't know what they're doing.....or be like me and let the steering wheel spin a bunch with the rack out, and rip the tape off inside....
The spool dangling around in there is just another thing to start rattling....its getting cold over here, stiff motor mounts are getting stiffer.....sucks....

You can't possibly find these connectors from Lowes. I've been to autozone, radioshack and I live at Homedepot. Please send me a picture of what you're talking about. Remember, the Socket opening is 1/8th of an inch or so, and even 1 speaker connector wont even fit, let alone you need 3.
Send me a picture of the connectors you're talking about. Up can disconnect the spool from the harness? I didn't know that or just don't want to rip apart the spool if i can use it in the future.
Of couse I zipped tied the spool to a metal loop in under the dash.
This is the best way. If you can do it better, more power to you. But I have cruise control back and it's pretty good for the long trips. OEM is Best.
I wouldn't cut or break anything off of my car, I love it too much and respect it. I was taught to appreciate what you have and work with it.
Not willing to buy another Spool if and when I want the stock steering wheel back in order to sell the car, or god forsake a traffic ticket and the officer was a ***** and gives me a fix it ticket.
Cutting things up are a noobs way and regrets is inevitable. I know because I was a noob and made a few errors. Hands down this is the only Thread about keeping Cruise control and it's A++.
i live in California, and Legality is a real issue. You're from Canada of somethin' matt, so...It's easy. We constantly have to keep the Stock parts because the Referee and Court houses are our best friends.

To get it FAQ'd just report it and type in that you want it FAQ'd
There is no need for a pissing match, you can use ecu pins, salvage some other pins, really it doesn't matter....if I ever find any more of what I'm talking about, I'll snap a pic for ya, but your way works fine

It doesn't matter if you do it one way or another as long as the concept and outcome is same.
I want an S2K. Best Honda ever built. RWD. what more can you ask for.
