Nitrous on an F22A4 w/ 208k miles
Could I run a nitrous system on an F22A4 in a 1991 Accord even though the engine has 208k miles on it, and if so, what size (hp) can I run? I think Advance Auto Parts sells a 150hp bolt-on Nitrous kit for $500, but I do not know if that would be too much for my car.
They also have dry nitrous kits that are adjustable between 40hp and 75hp, but I do not know if those would still be too much for that many miles. The only time I'd actually use the nitrous is at full throttle, and even then, only for passing slower traffic.
150hp - Way too much.
40-75hp kit, with swappable pills - possibly.
You could get a compression test done to check the motor's condition, but my concern with that many miles would be the health of the rest of the car's systems. IE fuel, ignition...

Not legal to use nitrous on public highways. Intended for off-road and race use only.

According to what Advance Auto Parts said, they would not recommend using nitrous simply because nitrous burns hot, and since the engine has 208k miles on it, AAP is concerned that the engine will not be able to dissipate heat properly. Aside from that, they said I'd need to check and possibly replace the fuel pump, check the ignition system, and check the cooling system. I already run 5W30 synthetic blend oil, and my car runs slightly cooler than normal (160 to 170 degrees; normal is 180).

Sounds like an answer from a 16 year old kid who's going for the 'fail-safe don't know what he's talking about' answer.

Don't listen to people that have no experience using nitrous and only assume that the mere use of it will destroy a motor. I have been using nitrous for two years in my high mileage '98 Accord (162k miles) with no problems. I have ran a over a dozen bottles through my car with either a 55 or 75 dry shot with a Zex kit. I have a few suggestions:
-Buy a used kit if possible because they are much cheaper than new, but check the fittings to make sure they are in good order.
-Read up on using an RPM activated window switch as they are a necessary safety component for any nitrous system.
For the rest, check out Zex.com and read up on their FAQ section. Good luck

yes and no, no two 10k or 100k car is exactly the same. I drove a car with worn out clutch, shot 2nd gear with less than 1000 miles on the ticker
it's like the standard answer for all the n2o post, Go do a leakdown and compression test, if you have a weak cylinder, adding stuff into it will prompty put it to the end
