Default Integra Type R Project

Im going to be attending UTI in houston and I want to be working on a project car while Im there. Ive decided that I want to do an Integra Type R build, with a K20a Type R motor. Im gonna buy a teg here in texas however im still looking into the best place to get a motor. Ive heard about some companies that sell rebuilt race k20a type R engines. Does anyone know where I could find one of these? I just want to see what they do to them so I can know what to do with mine. Im probably just gonna order a used motor from hmotorsonline.com, heard the swap wasnt that bad.

Also has anyone ever done the swap and gotten the AC to work?

I might not, but I know the costs and that wont be a problem. Other than that how hard can it be?

extremely hard if you don't know what you're doing. anyone can drop in a b series motor, but a k swap is MUCH more involved if you're just getting started.

I know the basics of car engines, however my friend who is attending UTI with me has been working at a performance shop for 4 years working on honda engines. He has worked on a k24 for around the same amount of years aswell as he owns a civic si. So im gonna have him along with other people at UTI houston that are going to be mechanic savy aswell.

i bet you could do the swap. and you'll get good help out of your friends, but i'd worry that they'd tell all their friends about this guy their helping, etc and your car will be jacked after you get all the parts installed. * best of luck. i have an itr and i'm in houston too, but i dont know any shells for sale in the area.

Well im gonna get a good alarm installed. Im also going to live at my uncles house near houston and Its going to be parked in a garage thats impossible to break into. He has a 6 car garage with a 100k BMW and a 1967 mint condition cuda worth a couple hundred thousand. So getting it stolen isnt a worry for me.

On a sidenote this is just going to be a project car that I will cruise a max of 1 night a week. I have my daily beater bmw 3 series to drive around in.

Why don't you put it in a normal integra shell or civic hatch?

I wouldn't hack up an ITR for a K20 unless it was a theft recovery and ******** already cleaned it out.

you first mistake is going to uti jesus they are to much $$$ yeah you get knowledge but no college degree... they have those nice comercials that get all these young kids to go there for what??? dude if your friend is working at a shop and messing with k's why ask us ask him... he should know a k20 is very good but you will lose those comforst of a b18c what ever u in it i.e a/c p/s... plus why you doing this in a r shell? your gonna spend more $$ then your bmw cost new getting a clean body and putting a k in it ok maybe not that much but alot by tuner standards... a stock k20r is bad as but damn thast alot of bread to lay down after you just bought a shell??? if your rich could you donate to our funds and we will all let you drive our car once so you can say you have driven more type r's then any one in the world...

Welcome to the board, and club of being an ITR owner.

For what your looking for, your best bet is to give

K20A.ORG a visit.

They have alot of good info, and "how to's" on what you're exactly looking to do.

They actually have quite a few companies, that make "plug n play" harnesses for the K to the DC/EG/Ek Chassis.

Good luck, and feel free to pm me with any questions.
