b16 question
ive seen a few other threads on the b16 in an ls teg and people say its slower. But what if i am using the b16 tranny and engine, then would it be faster than an ls with an ls tranny?
the b16 tranny is shorter geared than an LS....you may end up being faster than an LS, slower than an LS, or the same as an LS
people misbelieve that just by having vtec you're automatically gonna own everything you race. by dropping in the b16, you lose torque but gain revs, but you better make damn sure you have some good top end because the drop in torque in a 2600 pound car will not go unnoticed. i had an integra w/ the b16 w/ lsd trans, and it was great....because i had a jdm car in which that motor came, but i had the car because it was from japan, not because i wanted to race and beat everyone and their mom
if you want to have an integra for speed, stay away from the b16 UNLESS you plan on working it over completely and boosting it down the line...then you'll be fast

to an extent i concur..
Just recently got done with my buddies XSi swap..After about two months of working out all the kinks..and **** the car pulls great for a bolt on motor, i just got done doing a full street tune to where its around 13.2-13.4 AFR wot across the board, idled and the partial throttled tuned out well and he walked away from a 14.6 car from a 30 punch, i'd image its pretty quick for what it is..and yes, he's running the b18a cable tranny, from a low roll it sucks *****..anything above a 4-5 grand punch, the car really shines.. specially 3rd gear...but its not as impressive as any other swapped car its quick for what it is..i think its faster then a ls bolt on integra myself....but we have some big plans for the motor itself..so its not like its just staing bolt ons..

In a race against an b18b with bolt ons and a b16 in an integra chasis the b16 will undoubtably win, I've seen it. B18 is always first out of the hole, but after the madd vtak kicks in your *** is lightning and theirs no chance for the b18 my friend.

Haha....thats funny since "out of the hole" your car is only limited by traction (tire size, stickiness and chassis setup) and driver ability.

Ya just posted for ***** and gigles. I have noticed the exact oppisite though. When it comes to running on the streets, and nobody go crazy on me, where I live we race in the country with no cross roads; I noticed that these guys with b16's use their torque less wonders to their advantage by just revving real high and popping the clutch. theirs not alot of torque to spin the wheels and their already in the madd vtak so it makes for a good jump on the launch with some sticky tires.
I've found that taking it to about 5200 and slipping the clutch works great.....in all the torqueless wonders called b-series. In the SC its around 3k and a bit more agressive clutch slippage, but then again, RWD + 275s + 3600lbs creates some pretty decent launches.
