Default B16 or LS swap

I have a choice of either getting a JDM B16 for $900, or a USDM LS for $750. OUt of those two engines i dont know which one to get. They both come complete and are going to be put in my EG. My power goals for later on are for turbo and i will be shooting for around 375 whp and im not sure whcih motor is better. I know that vtec heads flow better, however the B16 lacks the torque that the higher displacement LS has. Also the turbo would spool faster in the LS than in the B16, but im not sure if the lag is really that bad in the B16. Im thinking the B16 but just wanted to make sure which is better overall.

What do you mean by complete? motor and tranny? If the b16 is a first gen, dont get it. It has differ tranny and wiring will be a b*tch.

The b16 in "MY PERSONAL OPINION" sucks. The b18a/b is a better street engine. All that high end hp from a b16 may be good for road racing but I don't like it.

Oh i know the b16 would kill teh LS its just that it doesnt have torque so there are more frequesnt downshifts and so.

Where are you getting these prices at? Are those really complete change overs, or just longblocks? Just wondering, because they are great prices for complete change overs. And do you want FI or NA?

both motors are really good but id have to do the b16. but you can combine the greatness of both and do ls/vtec. then you'll have the best of both engines. but do what you want and can afford. good luck.

I personally like the b16 because it demands more involvement from the driver and is more rewarding.

Basically the LS is more of a cruising engine, and the b16 is more of a racing engine. I like the b16. Get what YOU like.
