Got done with motor swap but idles crazy
sup fellas
i just got done swapin a blown motor...in a 98 ex
blown motor was a 98 d16y8 auto
new motor is a 97 d16y8 manual
i used alternator, dist, throttle body from the old motor, oh yeah the auto tranny too...
the car idles crazy up and down from like 1000-3000 even after car warms up...
i dont know whats the problem!
one thing i notice was there is a big sensor thing ( i think its a iac sensor) but the old one didnt have one...but the wiring harness dont have anythng to hook up to it...
i heard you have problems when you swap a manual motor to auto? any advice would be useful!!
thanks
tony

read the post noob. he has a automatic 98 d16y8. he blew it so he swapped in a manual d16y8. its the same engine.
did you use everything from the old motor. just swap the old intake maifold over. or if not, check to see if your tps sensor is calibrated and that the iac is hooked up

yeah besides the manifold...tps sensor? wheres that at? the sensor on the new manifold...the one on the back of it...i dont have a plug to plug in...
the old motor dont have that thing on the intake manifold...for some reason... so i guess it doesnt have a plug on the harness
thanks for the help

I dont know if anyone has mentioned this but the auto and manual intake manifold are very different. so swap the old manifold on the new motor if youre keeping it auto.
the big sensor your talking about is a big problem. I have been through the same things. you have to either get a new harness for that motor or swap intake manifolds like in earlier posts. if u dont have that sensor hooked up it may cause wavy idle.
