D16Y8 Intake Manifold on D16Z6 - Converting 3 wire IACV to 2 Wire?
I did a search and only came up with one old topic with all broken pics, and not much info on the IACV wiring.
Basically a co-worker of mine has a Z6 head on a D15B7 block, and the only intake manifold he has is the D16Y8 manifold without air injection, which is a good thing.
The D16Z6 intake manifold has a two wire IACV, and obviously the engine harness has a two wire plug for the IACV as well.
The D16Y8 IM has a 3 wire IACV - I know it's possible to convert the Y8 to 2 wires or something like this because I've seen a "how-to" on H-T before but I can't remember when.
If anyone has any first-hand experience with this, or a link to a thorough how-to that would be awesome, because my co-worker is looking to finish the car this weekend.
Thanks in advance.

The D16Y8 intake manifold you have is from an auto which uses the 3-wire iacv under the throttle body. On the back of it you can see where the 2-wire iacv mounting location is blocked off. You can either drill the holes there and mount a 2-wire iacv unit or you can sell the manifold and get a 5-spd D16Y8 intake manifold.
You cannot convert the IACV unit from 3-wire to 2-wire or vice versa. When people say you covnert from 3-wire to 2-wire iacv they mean that you convert your engine harness wiring to accept a 2-wire iacv so that a2-wire iacv unit will work on the motor.

Thanks for the informed, correct reply.

I guess he'll just drill/tap like you said, because I've got another Y8 manifold that has the exact same damn IACV on it!
Also since you seem knowledgable enough about these manifolds, which year models have that air injection BS that causes crazy vaccum leaks if not blocked off? Neither of the IMs we have have the air injection, but for some reason I thought it was an auto thing, but I guess it's a year model thing more so now.
Thanks again.
