GSR has a 'dual stage' engaugement. The short runners on the intake manifold open at 4600 and vtec at 5700. So therefor its not as loud.

Definately some type of cold air intake or short ram intake will make the engine louder. I drove my buddies b18c5 granted a different motor but you could barely hear the vtec kick in. It was not nearly as loud as my b16.

other way around. vtec is 4600 and the runners are 5700.

and yes, thats the reason GSR's are quieter.

p.s. loud vtec dosent mean better vtec.

The vtec in the b16 is louder due to the higher vtec cam lobe profile. The b16 is a smaller engine and must make up for the smaller displacement.

The same reason ctr cams have higher lobes then itr

As stated gsr has dual stage vtec, search you can find the wiring to wire both butterflies open so the gsr vtec kicks in a little harder

the GSR dosent have "dual stage vtec"

it has VTEC

and it has secondary intake manifold runners.

the two arent related.

IMO I love the B16's VTEC crossover, it is much more agressive then the GSR's secondary runner set up.
