usdmb18c vs. jdmb16a the sound of vtec?
my brothers got a 93 eg hatch with a jdm b16a sirII, And my friend has a 93 eg hatch with a usdm b18c.
jdmb16a mods w/stock jdm p30
ingen short ram
greddy sp2
act stage2/ itr flywheel
usdm b18c mods w/ stock usdm p72
70mm throttle body/crappy short ram
crappy "top speed" 4-2-1 header
apexi ws2
lighter flywheel not sure??...
now my question my brothers vtec is pretty damn loud!.. but my friends b18c is not near as loud you can kinda hear
you can feel the power though...
so why is my brothers louder?

Definately some type of cold air intake or short ram intake will make the engine louder. I drove my buddies b18c5 granted a different motor but you could barely hear the vtec kick in. It was not nearly as loud as my b16.

other way around. vtec is 4600 and the runners are 5700.
and yes, thats the reason GSR's are quieter.
p.s. loud vtec dosent mean better vtec.

The vtec in the b16 is louder due to the higher vtec cam lobe profile. The b16 is a smaller engine and must make up for the smaller displacement.
The same reason ctr cams have higher lobes then itr
As stated gsr has dual stage vtec, search you can find the wiring to wire both butterflies open so the gsr vtec kicks in a little harder

the GSR dosent have "dual stage vtec"
it has VTEC
and it has secondary intake manifold runners.
the two arent related.
