trans problem
So, i got into an accident a while back, and im still working on fixing my car. The front end is pretty bad, new radiator, fan, bumper, and hood. However, when i tried to drive it up on to a trailer so i could bring it home to work on it, it started up fine, but wouldnt go into gear (its an automatic). But, if you put the key in the shiftlock and put it into neutral, start the car, then you can put it in R, N, D1/2/3 with no problems. The radiator fan got pushed back to the motor mount, and it doesnt look like it hit the transmission at all. Pretty soon, the car is gonna be done and fixed, but i gotta figure out this transmission problem before i can drive it. Any ideas?

What exactly is your problem? Can't get it out of park? Check your brake switch.

Would love to see someone answer this question (the brake switch part) since I have had the same issue before and my shiftlock solenoid is currently rigged back with some very industrious qwik-ties. I know that's ghetto but it was kinda the only option at the time. Wasn't caused by any accident though. Good luck. Mine has been rigged for over a year now, so you always have that option.

It's the same switch that triggers your brake-lights whenever you press the brakes. Sometimes the bracket is bent; sometimes the switch is just broken.
