Hard Start and Hesitating...
I need your help on this one...
I have a '92 Intrgra GS with standard bolt on mods, DC Exhaust, DC intake. it has 160k miles and the car was doing fine.
All of these parts are a year old: Dist cap, rotor, coil, wires, spark plugs.
I think I ran into some bad gasoline, If someone could confirm these symptoms or give me something else to investigate.
I filled up from just about empty as I have done for the last 8 years of owning the car. The car drove fine for about 4 miles.
Then after the car had set for about 2 hours, I go out and it was really hard to start. Starter is brand new and turns the engine just fine. Finally the engine starts after 10 seconds of cranking. It idles fine.
Soon as I put my foot on the accelerator, the engine dies. It starts up the same way, and I have to baby the accelerator pedal to get moving. Once off Idle it seems to drive OK, and I can even take it through it's usual paces, but then the engine will intermittently miss under load through all ranges of RPMs from 1000 to 6000. Sometimes it is so bad, usually at 1500 off of a standing start it seems like it hit the rev limiter then continues once past 3k rpm.
No check engine light at all... (yes it works)

BTW,
The off idle stumble is always up to 3000 rpm.
After 3k rpm, pickup is normal except for heavy
intermittent miss on multiple cyl.
Car pulls hard all the way to 7k rpm when not missing.
I cannot mash the accelerator below 3k rpm or else
the engine will die.
Idle is smooth except for occasional miss.
Timing is 18° BTC, Idle is 750 rpm.
Also,
Symptoms not noticeable when engine is cold.
Include noticeable miss at idle when engine is hot. Also checked ignition and found weak spark.
Dist cap and rotor contacts are pitted.
This is confusing as they are only a year old.
Pulled TPS connector Check Engine light is on.
Symptoms are the same.
HELP HELP HELP...
Myabe you should do your scheduled maintanence.
New filters, pcv valve, throtle cable tension, clean TB, and check your timing. Bad timing can cause bad performance. Also check your ghaskets for leaks. Thats another performance killer.
If your still getting hesitation then you might want to check your compression.
You might have to drain the gas out if thats the problem. Check everything then if you have to drain the gas tank.
Jump your service connector and find out if your ECU is throwing any errors. That a good place to start when figuring out something thats wrong with the engine.

See the beginning of the thread...
Parts are a year old.
ECU has no stored codes.
Timing is 18° BTDC
Tank has been drained, filled with new gas.
Timing belt has not slipped.
Check engine light comes on when TPS is diconnected. (check eng & ecu work...)
Have discovered year old parts to be possible issue...
Dist cap button is charred, rotor contacts are corroded.
Spark plugs are red... (wtf??? I never saw red plugs b4...)
These may explain weak spark...
