Default My d16y8 build

Just got a new engine 60k miles on it and im getting a y8 tranny for it. So far i got stage 2 centerforce clutch,8lb unorthodox flywheel,unorthodox crank pulley,dc sport 4-1 header, short ram intake,custom 2.5in exhaust,crower stage 2 cam with valves and spring, getting head milled and port n polished. Going to upgrade my intake eventually but for now need to get her running. Not looking to be the fastest but to burn a couple DOHC's when they arent expecting it.

You need more compression to really get the most out of that cam. Dyno results show it likes around 11:1 compression.

4-1 header why? why did you not go with the 4-2-1 the sohc only makes power to about 6,500 anyway so why push your power up even higher makes no sense?

milled head bad idea in my opinion get some pistons OEM if possible from stay away from forged pistons looser tolerances and all that crap if you do not understand what i am talking about THEN i will be happy to explain in another post!

The 1988-1989 D16A1 Engine came with some really high dome pistons, they will increase your compression ratio as follows:
d16a1 pistons (stock bore) in the following with a y8/z6 metal head gasket (no mill):
d16a6= 11.0: 1 compression
d16z6= 12.0: 1 compression
d16y8= 12.6: 1 compression

and the pipe 2.5 COME ON your not running a jet engine 2 and what ever the usual size is fine for your setup JUST make sure you remove all the B/S like resonators and cat converters then you will be set

oh i almost forgot need to reword your ECU no good having a bunch of parts if your ECU don’t know what the hell to do with it right?
