Coilovers with progressive custom spring rates?
Is there any brand that makes these? Id like a soft progressive spring but be able to adjust my ride height.
Im looking for slip over coilovers or full coilovers with dampening adjustment.
This is for use on a street car somewhere in the world where potholes are as large as open sewers, so I want a soft spring (5.5kg/mm probably around that) but be able to set my desired ride height
On a side note, which are better: Ksport or d2 coilovers?

theres a company called DMS that markets specifically progressive spring rates for their shocks. theres a thread in rr/ax about them. in reality, the springs were no more than 450lbs or so.
read at your own risk. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1461894
tokico also has their d-sport line that has threaded body shock and perch that uses their own springs that i believe are progressive and based off the illuminas, which are a solid 5 adjustment shock.

how about helper springs? could I install them on normal coilovers like d2, ksport or omnipower and get the benefits of smoother ride?
Where could I get these?
Thanks for the help, im looking for more info on the dsport tokico as the dms looks kinda sketchy

you could definately use tender springs (springs that contribute to the overall spring rate). ive only seen eibach readily make them available, but theyre specially made in germany. but they cost A LOT. and youd have to make sure the length would fit, or need to get shorter main springs. (i snagged a pair off ebay for cheap, never used em tho)
so then youre starting to really get into a customized setup, which means lots of $$$, and also, youd be shooting blind as to what would be really beneficial. it would require multiple setups and testing. so really, i wouldnt recommend it. best to go off the shelf really.
speaking of eibach, i think they also have a line of suspension that has a progressive rate spring along with a threaded body shock. *paging vtecvoodoo, pick up on line 2 please*
some suspension kits do have helper springs, at least i dont believe they offer any real spring rate and just keep the spring loaded. but i could be wrong and that might contribute to the progressive rate. i forget which, maybe bilstein or h&r makes a kit that may fit. KW might too.
the only issue with tokico's threaded body shocks is that theyre kinda expensive for what you get. i think its because im comparing to how cheap regular illuminas are off the shelf at discount prices. not too many ppl have tried em, probably because of the cheap (and cheaper) chinese alternatives. but they do advertise shorter shock length for extra shock travel when lowered, compared to regular illuminas. so thats a big plus. and they remind me of the "illumina-R" that were discontinued a LONG time ago that were a much beefier set of regular illuminas. theyre so old and long gone that very few ppl even know what im talking about. i wonder tho if they revived that valving in these new threaded body shocks...

ya i spent about 6 hours, testing out, main and tender spring combinations on a spring rate scale. It took alot of testing and alot of math to get what i wanted, im not really sure it was worth it, but i was bored at the time, had access to the springs for free so i said what the heck.
FYI when you combine a tender and a main spring. You get a progressive rate untill the tender is coil-bind. the progressive rate depends on the rate of the tender and the main. i couldn't really find a solid patteren so i had to test out tons of combos.

I found on ebay the illumina R "Tokico RAK 502 Illumina R" for 700 with springs but I dont have a clue what spring rates they have.
I also found the Dsport but they cost 900 and I dont know the spring rate to that either so It would just be buying an overpriced setup in the blind.
I already have kyb agx and was thinking of getting some itr springs or some tein htech for integra. The thing is they both ride to high for my taste.
thanks a lot

Also searching on ebay and the tokico site I found out that they dont make dsport for 92-00 civic or tegs and I guess the guy on ebay is a theif or mistaken. They do have however the illumina R and I guess thats what the guy is selling
these are the ebay links

ok, sorry, ive been a bit vague and mistaken and misleading due to my bad memory. i need to clarify.
i should have said tokico RAK's when i was talking about the threaded body illuminas. yeah, theyre marketed as "illumina R" kit.
btw, these are NOT the "illumina R" shocks i mentioned before. trust me, theyre long gone. actually, i dont think the previous, beefier illuminas were even called anything like "R", or whatever. they were special issue. so i think me calling them that confuses the issue. but i cant think of any other way to describe them, other than "fatty illuminas" because they were much thicker.
and it wasnt d sport, its dspec. sorry again. yeah, tokico seems to have brought out this line for the "drifting" crowd. which most hondas arent part of. but i thought they also had a civic/integra setup too. guess i was wrong.
hmmm odd, looks like its only the macpherson strut civics that have a dspec application. http://www.prostreetonline.com...k_kit/ $533?? kinda cheap... like a seemingly good value for any EP owner.
wait, they have a 97 acura integra application.. how would that not fit an EG??? (and more importantly to me, not fit on a CRX with the right forks...)
oh and that JDMwerks guy on ebay is absolutely the cheapest dealer for tokico. havent heard a complaint yet about it.

also those helper springs are just that, just helpers. theyre not designed to add any spring rate to the overall spring rate. (actually, a tender spring would only DECREASE overall spring rate, but whatever)
btw, those are 2.25" ID, you probably need 2.5" ID.
eibach tenders are black and are rectangularly (cross section) wound.

using the tender springs to decrease overall spring rate until its coil bind is what I need, but I think just the wheight of the car will do that on those eibach ones.
The application tokico has for integra says hts on the part number so I think they are not dsports, anyways I cant find them anywhere only (jdmwerks says they are RAK part number eve though he advertises them as dsports)

yeah odd.
anyway, i say go with tokico RAK kit.
however, its weird that theres a RAK502-D, and RAK502-I. dunno what that means...
what car do you have anyway?
hmm judging by this description, it looks like the D stands for dspec.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...idget
so they DO offer a dspec alternative for the civics. interesting.

I have an EK HB with large front swaybar (from an EX EK) and Ill get a rear 22 o 23mm swaybar whenever I decide which spring shock setup to get.
Theres a seller here that sells dspec coilovers and he tells me he can get me progressive springs for the coilovers. Im looking into that option.
Id like a neutral handling car much like an integra R but just a tad stiffer. On the BMI video they say it comes with 250f adn 140-250r progressive, so im shooting for 250 up to 335 (4.5kg to 6kg) and I think I should get the same front and rear. What do you think?
Theres also the TEIN Htech for integra which are 296f and 257r, these I would use with my current KYB AGX. I know this isnt the best setup but ill be spendind the least money so its also an option. The worst for me about this setup is going to be the ride height, maybe I can lower the shocks on the front forks and on the rear raise the mount or cut the KYB spring stay and lower it or something
On the tokico website it shows both RAK, I and D applications for civic but none are DSK which is the app for Dsport coilovers. So I just think its the rear fork between ek and eg for the last letter. In the integra app chart theres the HTS, and I dont know what it stands for because in the japan only app chart it shows the same numbers for civic 92/95, but it still isnt DSK for Dsport

I found AMR Engineering Coilovers for 785 shipped and the guy says he has progressive springs. Has anybody used these? The look nice and at least the specs on the sellers thread makes them look really good, totally custom.
LMK what you guys think

i honestly dont think too many ppl have purchased those. He use to be BodyKitsNW and sold ksports that he swore by. If they really had progressive springs Im sure a lot more people would have purchased them. But I could be wrong.
