Dump Pipe Or No Dump Pipe...
I tryed to figure this out on my own but couldnt, so ill need some feedback, Ok, i have a boosted h22 and the wastegate is on the right side of my manifold which causeing the location for the dump pipe to face my alternator. (Ramhorn Design Manifold) I havent had time to install a dump pipe yet so ive been driving it the way it is, but everytime i hit boost all of that hot air is going into the alternator and causeing my batt light to flick on and off. I was looking arround and found that there are block off flanges that give the option of not using a dump pipe at all. Does it depend on the turbo weather someone should use the pipe or not?

well does your turbo have an internal waste gate or no if not a dump pipe is of utmost importance you will melt something in your engine bay probably your alt first since it is hitting it first then id say your valve cover will be next if not first
just get a piece of exhaust piping bent to where it dumps under the car and out of the way of anything, if all else fails, route it to the down pipe and be done with it.
Damn dude, you're loosing major hp from sucking back in your exhaust gases and I'm sure that's very bad for your alternator. Definately get a dump tube!!
If you're asking whether or not you need a wasteagte then you don't need to drive a boosted car. Do you realize what a wastegate does?? Without it you will boost uncontrollably and your engine probably won't last very long...

Im not new to boost im just curious about this cause ive never seen a turbo kit without a dump pipe.

I figured out what ill have to do about the pipe since there is very lil room between the wastegate and the alternator. thanks to everyone that put in there opinion on this subject.

after reading your first post, its apparent you dont know what you are talking about.... go ahead and block off that wastegate and then boost.. see what happens

If one was to use a block off plate, that means they won't be using an external wastegate. You still need some sort of way to regulate the exhaust gases in order to control boost. So one can assume you ONLY use a wastegate port block off plate because you're using an INTERNAL wastegate that's attached to the turbo.
there no sense is gloating your high powered car and still not understand what to do with your dumptube and asking trivial stuff about wastegate blocking plates.
