I'm not sure how to explain it,

there seems to be some slapping noise coming from the head.
i've taken the valve cover off and checked the head out.
everything seemed fine but the noice is still there.


anyone have any ideas?

 

Your valves could be really loose, or you could have a wrist pin messed up....It could be alot of things.

 

what exactly did you "check" when you took off the valve cover? just looked at it? lol

valve adjustment, injectors firing, normal valvetrain noise.

 

Does it sound like Jerry Garcia playing in your ears?

But seriously there could be a bunch of things. I'd have your valves adjusted first and see if that resolves your issue.

 

i sometimes have a clicking sound come from my jaw...

if u have little tapping sounds it could be the injectors or since its an abnormal sound, do a valve adjustment

 

I've seen actually a loose timing belt make valve train noise.

 

the car is going to my buddies shop for the valve adjustment, a new knock sensor, injector, fuel pump and other goodies

why do u need a new fuel pump and knock sensor?

 

yeah, the title of this thread made me laugh, then, as it was followed by Half Baked comments, i had a nice chuckle

oh, and water pumps with a bad shaft will make a knocking noise too. if a timing belt is overtightened, it can cause this

 

the knock sensor is throwing codes

 

could still be the water pump
any tapping goin on will set off knock levels
