Default whats wrong with my car??

I have a 94 civic coupe with a 95 h22a1 and a stock p13. its giving me a soild cel... could this be because of bad sensors? or is the ecu fubar? if it is the ecu... will it do anything if I have someone chip it? or is it just totally screwed? also... the check engine light only comes on when it is warmed up and after driving it for a bit. thanks

Shane

If it was a bad ECU it would come on when the car turns on, I do believe, not wait for SOT before it comes on. Anybody correct me?

Honda CEL comes on for a few seconds when the key is KOEO, and the fuel pump primes for the same amount of time, this is all controlled by the main relay. If the CEL stays on all the time and the car starts, I have to do some research as to why, if there is a code stored, I THINK the light should still cycle off untill it starts. If the light stays on and there is a no start, then check the ECU fuse.

On many Hondas with a stuck on CEL it has usually been the catalytic converter overheat sensor gone bad.

ok when I check the code, it just stays solid. normally it will blink when you check codes? so its not giving me any codes other then soild. and like I said it it doesn't come on as soon as the key is turned on... its after driving it for a while. also, I havn't tried switching it for a known good one because I just moved to Portland area and don't know anyone

did you check the code by jumping the service connector? If the light is staying solid then you must not be connecting the right spots....

ya I checked it by jumping the double pin connector down in the passenger kick pannel. I've done it a million times on other civics. and still get a solid light.

Alright, I might be going out here on a limb...but whatever.

I jump the service connector too, fast, easy, but all and all when you really look at it from an honest perspective it's the half *** way of doing it.

Bring that **** to autozone and have them check the code, see what the ECU <u>TELLS</u> you is wrong, then work from there.

if i'm not mistaken, when you jump the connector and it stays solid, it's a bad ecu. find somebody that can loan you one for a few minutes. if that fixes it, start looking for another ecu.

Autozone will plug it in the obd port and check for your codes through a scanner. It's free of charge too

killersohc,

your CEL must come on when you first turn your key on for a few seconds to do a bulb test and then it will go out and the fuel pump will also do the same thing to prime the system. NO BULB TEST may be a bad ECU.
