sure, if the gasket is blown or your o2 sensors aren't working.
Very vague question, The check engine light can range from sensors to you not having your gas cap tightened enough.

i guess i didnt make the qestion specific. I was actually asking about the o2 sensor?

Then yes.
You should have asked about the o2 sensor. Your check engine light could be X amount of things.
Your o2 sensor will make a difference because it will alter your air/fuel ratio because your ecu isnt getting a correct reading.
