on the 1/4 mile when is the best rpm to shift?1-4 gear.. how long should i hold each? im getting a slow time of 15.8 ..but im new to the 1/4 mile..what time should i be running as a average with the parts i have? do you suggest any new parts with low cost?

its a 97 gsr..with gerddy exhaust intake dc spt 4-2-1 header..apex vafc and putting a mad 6al in with coil and wires...should i redline all gears in the 1/4 mile and how much ive taken it till 8400..will this hurt the motor ?if you dont mine can you tell me where you are shifting on the 1/4 mile?

 

how can u take it to 8400 if rev limit is 8100? and besides..w/o aftermarket cams revving up that high is pointeless

 

not really, if you rev it a little father, when you shift 1-2 you don't drop the secondaries. That helps, but yes, GS-R cams aren;t going to make power up there.

revving up to 8400 on your stock valvetrain is highly unrecommended. and no you cant rev up to 8400 on a stock ecu, there is a fuel cut off if you pass around 8200. i shift at around 8100-8200 rpm. try to get quick on the shifts and keep on practicing.

 

are you saying youve never redlined your gsr?


IT IS MADE TO BE REDLINED!!! DO IT AND GO FAST!

some cars dont make power to redline i know, gsr's do. push it.
they are made for it.
