Default a correct rpm to shift??

I have a 99 Civic EX that I reciently converted to a SI.(motor, tranny,etc..)All the upgrades on the motor have been done. Manual, No turbo or Nitro yet. I have issues getting locked out of 3rd gear in the higher rpm range (7 to 8). Just wondering If I need to replace my sincros in 3rd, or do I just need to learn to shift at a diff. rpm?

Oh and what would rpm would you recomend the launch to be at?

Not sure what j body is... but I was asking about what rpm is best to tack it up to to take off. Also is it normal for it to lock me out of 3rd in high rpms.

I have on it; preformance intake, AEM fuel rail, Ignition system, Preformance cams, 4-1 headers, 3inch exaust to dual high flow mufflers, short shifter, racing clutch and many more items in it. I bought the motor throu a shop here in town and I never got the list of proformance parts on it.

those b16 trannys are bastards and its real common for them to have 3rd gear synchro issues. You should be able to shift into 3rd gear at the stock rev limit or close to it. Obviously since as it is you cannot do this, lower the rpm you shift at till you find a spot where you can actually get into gear. of course this is a pain in the ***, and the only real way to fix it is tear the tranny apart and replace whats gone bad.

By Si I'm assuming that you mean the B16A2 Si motor, tranny, ECU, etc. Try to shift at the point in the upper RPM's right before you feel the motor wind out. That is the point where the engine is at peak HP. Any longer and you loose momentum and power. For me its right around 8000, my tach is a bit off. As for launching I have my 2 step on my Hondata set at 3500 which gives me a great launch nearly every time. As for 3rd gear, hitting that wall isn't that uncommon. I just live with it...
