Door Buzzer signal unit on 2000 Accord EX Coupe
I just can't stand it anymore. Please help me stamp out the annowing buzzing sound when my key is in the ignition and my door is open. Sometimes, I like to listen to my sound system with the door open when I'm parked. But, damn it. My serenity is interrupted.
I've looked in my electronic parts manual but can't find the exact location of the signal device. I know that it is on the left side of the steering wheel under the dash. But, I can't pin point it. What does it look like and what do I need to disconnnect? Also, the connectors look like they have a locking mechanism on them and I don't want to cannibalize a connector when disconnecting it. Anyone out there with some help.
Thanks in advance,
Bob

Have you thought of the door switch itself, the one that turns on the dome light, is this the switch that operates the buzzer or is it inside the door catch mechanism.
If it is the dome switch then just short it out (switch closed circuit) or disconnect (switch open circuit) it, which ever direction works.

Very cool screen name. The dome light is not really involved. The door switch does activates the buzzer and the dome light when the door is opened. If the key is in the ignition and the driver door is open, the buzzer is activated. According to the owners manual, Honda refers to this buzzer as the "reminder beeper".
What is relevant is that if I short out the door switch, then the alarm system is rendered inoperative. The easiest way to solve the problem is to disconnect the "reminder beeper". That way, the alarm system is still intact.
Do you know how to do that?

I personally do not get to play with security systems, not much of a theft problem around my area. I think I would put in a manual switch but again you may forget to turn it back off. I am talking about wiring a switch into the dome switch circuit or the inner door circuitry, where ever it would be needed.
A friend has a M Benz, when he opens his door he puts a golf tee behind the dome switch to hold it in the closed position (as though the door was closed), yes it is different than your system but maybe you could modify something to your door jam area to push (hold) the switch closed. Start with a "C" clamp type of idea that will wrap around the B pillar and hold the switch closed.
Let us know what you come up with please. I am thinking that the speaker that does all this buzzing is a multiple purpose buzzer and you may want to keep it in tact, our buzzers activate when the vehicle is driven over 110 KPH, many people want them removed but these are fairly easy to access and dont affect anything else of great importance.
