Default Funny Noise =|

I've got a 1992 Honda Accord and it started making this funny noise. Whenever I turn a corner slowly there is like a clanking noise coming from underneath the car. Any idea what it might be? If I turn a corner fast you don't hear it. It kinda makes the noise as I start turning the corner, clank...clank...clank, then as I speed up around the corner the clanking gets quicker....then eventually stops as I continue to drive. My car still drives properly and what not it's just the noise gets annoying and worries me sometimes. Any suggestions?

clanking? or clicking.. if it clicks ONLY on turns. Its probably you cv boots/joints.. Will need new axles.

Nope, it's clanking. It's almost as if someone is dropping a stone into a tin can over and over. That's as best as I can explain it.

hmm i would check your cv boots if they are ripped.. Could be wheel bearings, but most of the time that makes noises when your driving and u said its fine when u drive regular unless you turn.. the only thing i could think is cv boots are ripped.

Ok thanks...I'll definitely check that out. Any idea how much it costs to fix that? And is it still safe for me to drive? What about going on the highway...what speed should I maintain until I get it fixed?

if your cv boot cracked there should be grease slung all over the inside of your wheel well where it has escaped from the boot. wheel bearing you can rule out by throwing the wheel back and forth while driving to remove the load from one wheel to the other. the sound should go away from one side.

if its your cv joints, i drove on mine for a year , but i wouldnt advise that lol.. Cost.. depends on alot of stuff, i know in texas to replace both my axles was like 200 each side!! so i said f that adn did it myeslf for 120 bucks.. each axle cost roughly 60 bucks.. then shops charage you labor.

I have the same problem in my 94. It started after new axles were put in. It is not the axle or cv joints, but inside the tranny. Maybe LSD. I can jack my car up and run it in gear and if I turn the wheels all the way to one side, the noise transmits through the left drive wheel. Only the right wheel turns, but you can see the left wheel trying to turn as the noise continues clanking away. Noise is only present when starting out in gear and turning. Give it full throttle and noise is eliminated.

I've driven it this way for 30,000 miles and not going to worry about it. Not worth oulling the tranny.

Just clarifying something because I have the same issue, but there is a difference between a tranaxle rod and a cv axle correct? cause if not these jerks put a transaxle in wrong a few months ago
