Clunking noise while turning
The stats:
-1995 Civic DX Coupe; 57,000 miles; No DROP, No SUSPENSION MODS
The problem:
Whenever I make a left or right turn, I hear a clunking noise coming from the front of the car. When I make a left turn, the clunking noise appears to be coming from the RIGHT of the car, like below the glovebox or that vicinity. When I turn right, the clunking noise appears to be coming from the LEFT of the car, like under the steering column or near it.
The CV boots were replaced in January of this year.
Took it to Honda twice and they told me that they couldn't hear the noise, or get it to make the noise I describe.
Then, took it to Sears. They also told me the same thing. They put it up on a rack and took a look at it and said everything is okay.
I know I'm not paranoid when I hear the noise and when everyone else who rides in my car hears it. Is there anything I could do?
Is it my axle shaft?? I have to be sure 100% that it is that if I do plunk down the money to replace it.
Thanks guys!!

CV boots could have been replaced but that doesnt mean all the grease didnt sling out first. However, I would suggest checking your ball joints and tie rod ends. Put that side of the car in the air and wiggle the tire, side to side, then up to down. If you have side to side play, it is the tie rod end, top to bottom play indicated worn ball joints.
Got to be the CV's if you only have a prob when turning. Probably ran with bad boots for too long and ultimately got too much dirt and too little grease in them. Get under the car and see if the cv's clunk as you wiggle them.
it's cv joints usually when you replace the boot unless you caught it the day it happend you should repace the axle cause the joints won't last more that a year or two they have to have grease to make them last a lot. i owuldn't suggest rebuilding them your self i have bui;t custom axles for my car and it sucks not hard just messy with a core exchange at napa you could get them for 75 a piece. The hardest part about chanign them is undoing the lower ball joint to free the drum to pull the axle.
