Just got my Hatch
Fellow import enthusiasts, I just picked up my first Honda.
I was looking for a EG/EK Hatch for daily driving because the other projects (1G AWD DSM and Subaru SVX) are not as robust and reliable as Hondas and could no longer take daily commuting.
The new beast is a 1993 Hatchback CX, 150k miles (5spd of course). The thing runs like a swiss clock and sips gasoline like I've never seen, this is amazing, very good investment. It is bone stock and I intend to keep her that way (except perhaps for a K&N stock replacement filter to see if I get better mileage).
Onto my questions:
1- Is there a link or thread where I can see all the specs on EG and EK Civics made? Including weight, engines, tank size, trims (differences between VX, CX etc? I heard that the VX has a leaner fuel map and is more economical, but also has less power)...?
2- I am missing the passenger's side mirror, it just did not come with one. My Buddy told me that instead of going to a junkyard like HondaSpecialist and get ripped off, to get a set like these. The price is fair, but my concern is that they might look cheap. Do you guys know if these "spoon style" mirrors that they sell in these eBay auctions are actually made with a decent material and look fairly clean?
3- Is there any known modification that would help me get even better mileage (besides checking the O2 sensor etc.)? My goal with this little car is to get the best mileage possible, and I am willing to sacrifice power to do so, I want to see how far I can push her.
4- The beast has no tach. I would like one. Again, I see a bunch of clusters on eBay, both from domestic Civics as well as JDM ones. Is there a table I can see where it shows which clusters with tachimeter are compatible (plug-and-play) with my Hatch?
Thanks in advance for the help Guys.
Regards,
-Walter
