Plz help Diagnosis the problem
Hey i have a 97 ex auto, p2p ecu with no led light !!!! WTF!!! my car has been and is acting so messed up. Ill be driving and the car goes wamp wamp wamp the rpms drop 500 come up 500 drop 500 and makes the wamp wamp sound when this happens (exhuast amplfiling the actually sound). Its hard for me to go from 2 to d3 on my gear selection thing. It usually shifts at 2500. My car revs up when shifting and goes up to 4k rpms (randomly but recently alot more often like 10 15 times per 40 miles) . And dude i swear to god i almost got into a wreck today i was coming up to a red light intersectiong and as i was brakeing, it of course downshift and then it felt as if the car jerked forward while i was slowing down. And its pissing me off so bad because i already work 30 hour weeks in high school and can barely pay car insurance and gas, now if its something serious im gonna have to work 40 plus so this is so stupid. I already think its the idle air control or whatever and i was told by some dude that i need to get my transmission fliud changed because its not as "pink" or wutever color its suppose to be. betweeen the bars on the trans fluid indicator its below middle half. I Relize i cant spell and what not but im so pissed right now because No 1 in my family will help me pay for jack ****.
im not quite sure what yuo trying to get at??? but if you talking about an idle surge you can start by bleeding the coolant.. air in the cooling system will cause a surge..
that is the most horrible description of a problem i've ever heard on this site... could you try being more specific, because right now, it sounds like quite a few problems: bad iac valve, vacuum leak, tranny slipping. try being more descriptive about the problems with your vehicle, and less about how your life sucks and all that business. give us something to work with.
It sounds to me maybe the tranny slipping and it revving during slips?
If your fluid is low and dirty. Try draining what you have and fill it up with new "Honda" fluid.
Only reason I say that is I had a 5th gen Prelude "Auto" and at a stop it would lunge a little when it was warm. I did a fluid change and got about 3 more months out of it before it toasted itself. It was an SS tranny and they are know to be ****. I'm not sure how the Civic auto's hold up.
Good Luck.

Civic auto trannies suck just as bad.
at OP:
Yeah, change the fluid out, see if you can get more life out of it, but the tranny is more than likely going.
You can pickup a manual tranny from a junk yard for a rediculously low price.
I would just start saving now so when it does go, you're not completely fucked.
