Default some questions about a 93 civic si

my gf's picking this car up tomorrow. it's a red 93 civic si hb. i just have a few concerns regarding some abnormal features on the car. it doesn't have a tachometer, i always thought all 92-95 civic ex/si came w/ one, someone please confirm this. next, every si's i've seen came w/ rear speaker panels, this one doesn't. last, i was looking at the motor and notice that the d16z6 had p08 imprinted on the head. now is this normal? shouldn't it be p28? correct me if im wrong but the p08 is the d15b. just wondering if it's normal for some d16z6 blocks to have p28 or p08 heads. i know it's always possible that the car has been modified but from the looks of it, it's bone stock and the owners some old married couple looking to buy an suv to haul their grand kids.

might want to run the vin to make sure, and its good to run it anyways before you buy a car. Seems like if it is an Si it would at least have a tach.

must have a tach with a redline of 7200 and power sunroof. As for the speaker not all came with it but power sunroof is a must!

it definately has a sunroof along w/ the rear disc brakes. just wondering if its normal for some si models to not have a tach or rear speakers. also it doesn't say vtec on the valve cover, and the spark plugs run along the bottom row of the valve cover.

no tach not normal, not having rear speaker normal. I have a 93 Si hatch so I would know. I am also the 2nd onwer! I knew the first onwer very well since it was my mechanic sister.

cluster a must , rear speaker panel optional, head im not sure but just drive it and see if vtec engages then youll know if it is a vtec head or not. also you might want to see if the ECU is a p28 because it might not be if the cluster has been replaced with a non vtec cluster

I have a SI hatch, I got all of that, not sure about the rear speaker and head tho because mine was gutted. but for some reason I got a P72 GSR ecu haha, and its making the car run rich but its not throwing any codes, oh well I guess i'll throw crome on the P72 or something.
anyway best of luck

po8 i think is the d15b head....the rear speakers were a factory option...and the tach should be there.

I do believe that the z6 didn't say vtec till 94 or 95, I know for sure that 92 and 93 does not(you can change the valve cover though. I have had 2 93 si hatches and they did not have rear speakers. I am sure that the tach was standard in the si though.

I am sure that the 92,93 si did not say vtec on the valve cover the 94, 95 came with the vetc lettering on the head. As far as rear speakers go it would only have them if the original owner ordered the sound system with the car these cars came from the factory with no stereo.the car should have a tach, power side mirrors, and a power sun roof as standard equipment. Ac, Stereo and fog lights where all options

Like everyone has said already...Must have a sunroof and rear disc brakes. My 92 Si did not say vtec on the valve cover, had no rear speakers, and has no passenger airbag( I think 93 should have this).

I have a 93 hath and it has no passenger airbag. But my gf's 94 has one, i think thats the year they switched to always having one, I don't think it has anythign to do with being an si or not.

Its all about the sunroof and the rear brakes
