Default tranny question...Info needed b4 purchase...

hey, i am trying to purchase a tranny off of ebay. found one that says it is out of 94 civic. i emailed the guy asking if it was dx, lx, or ex and his response was this...

"it is out of a dx with a 1.6L hope this helps.
thanks"

is that even possible? i thought if it was a dx then it would be a 1.5L or if it is a 1.6L, shouldnt it be an EX? i'm not sure, can anyone shed some light on this for me?

that # wont do anything for you he has to look on the side of the transmission, next to the drain plug it will have
P20/A000 is for DX/CX/VX
P20/B000 is for EX/Si

It sounds like the motor from the 96-00 CX/DX/LX, the D16Y7. 106 hp, 103 trq

USE THIS KNOWLEDGE TO YOUR BENIFIT!

In 1994 there WAS a Civic DX with a NON-VTEC D16 in it.. We ran into this problem when trying to find the correct T-belt and the D15 was a few teeth too short!

However, like it has been mentioned before, it will bolt up, the only differences would be gearing..

s20 means nothing but 92-95 trans

just hope that you don't get a cx/vx trans with the 3rd gear that will take you to infinity and beyond.

(BENSE)

DOOD, I said the SAME EXACT CRAP until I was faced with it!

The only way you'll EVER believe me is if you actually run into it yourself.. It's total BS..

The belt for the D15 was about 4-5 teeth too short with the tensioner LOCKED while FULLY COMPRESSED.. we went through like 3-4 different part numbers and holy crap if there isn't this belt for the D16 that's about 4-5 teeth longer.. it fit perfectly..

Believe it or not.. I just tell it how it is..

Were the trannys in the 92-95 civics hydraulic?

Gadget, I'm not saying that you were wrong, I'm just saying that I doubt that HONDA put a d16 in a 94. It could have been a replacement d16a6 engine.

Yeah, that seemed wierd to me too.. Perhaps you're correct about that.. But the belt itself, I'm positive about..
