Default 99 si cluster

i have a 99 si cluster that i purchased and there is a problem with the spedometer. i mean everything works on the cluster fine but the speed my car is traveling is displayed 10 miles too fast. i was wondering if the spedoemeter is bad or do i need to buy a new one? i searched but i found that no one else had this problem. need help asap. thanks a lot

The person that had the gauge before you may of screwed around with it...( replacing the gauge face, removing the dial, etc.... thats if it was used) heres a tip, i did this to mine. remove the cluster and take it apart, put a piece of color tape where the dial lays when the car is at 0 mph, take the dial off then put it back on. i would rec. that you do this and keep testing it while the car is on but not moving; this way, the tach will read exactly where you want it to, and all you have to do is find its right spot. its very tricky and took me a few trys. i have done this both on my rpm and mph tachs. pm me if you have other questions. if your not comfortable with this, you could also just buy a whole new mph tach to replace the broken one.

JDM_Spec_SI-R is right. The person that had that cluster before you might have screwed around with it. I had the same problem with my si cluster. I didn't want to deal with it so i just sold it to another person for really cheap. ( of course i told him before hand that the speedometor was off) .
for the guy who sold it to me without telling me about the problem

i would tell you guys to try to take your cluster apart like i had posted on how to earlier, but it is really hard and involves alot of work. i would have to tell you, since some of you have never done it before, not to do it, caus ethen you could ruin the whole cluster. if you guys need some directions and how to's, just pm me and ill be more than happy to help.
