wich short block to build
well my buddy always tells me to build a b20 block...he has one and fricking pulls hella hard with his type R head....i got a b16 in my hatch and i was planning on build a block in school next semster....just cant decide which on to go with a b20 or keep it 1.6
i know the 1.6 has a really good rod to stroke ratio and the plan was balance the crank flywheel and pulley as an assembly then forged rods and ctr pistons i think
then agian i can build a a b20 block dont really know what to do just need some help making a decision
if it helps i was hoping to autocross the car and some draging ....hoping to make around 210-230 horses n/a with a built head
thanks for the help

b16 has a lot of potential. i like your idea about balancing the crank and throw some ctr pistons in there, why not a stage 1 cam while youre at it, thing will fly!
But yeah if you ever want to see any torque better to up the liters. I like a 1.6 personally though, if you do all that to it youll be pissing off a lot of guys with stock gsr swaps

im not a big fan of b20s. Cylinder walls crack easier than most other B-series blocks.
I'd go with an LS or GSR bottom end. dont do the b16. rod stroke, etc. Not going to matter for a daily driver.

Re: wich short block to build (exospeedAMcrx)
cylinder walls should hold up though right if im not boosting it on the b20
my buddy has his b20 v fully built and it is a 10k screamer...holy crap it is fast but i was just worried about the rod stroke ratio
just thinkin that a 1.6 would be more reliable built then the b20
thanks agian for the insight

ya theres alot that hold, but from experience and what we've seen out there, theres alot more cracked b20 cylinder walls than anything else.
We just had a customer from Arizona come in last Monday and they were using B20/Vtecs for their roadrace/autocross cars and they went through 3 b20 blocks just this year.

2.0 liter GsR or LS/V. Not the cheap route, but it works.
