Default gsr block b16 head in eg

just got done doing a gsr block w/b16 head swap into my EG. The difference is phenomenal but I still think its not as fast as it should be. ran my buddy's EG with straight gsr swap and he pulled me by 2 cars...what could be wrong?? Im running a civic SI ECU...should I go with a chipped p28?? I also have a vafc hookep up, and it seems like vtec hits at 48 then at 53. kinda weird!!

your VAFC settings arent set for your car... so its telling your ecu different readings might be running lean or rich.. take it out and you will know a differene or take it to a dyno and get your car tuned..

The B16 head lowered you compression ratio and the intake manifold on the GSR produces better low and mid RPM power. What transmissions are you both running?

Your crossover may be too early. Does the car lose power at 4800 RPM and then surge near 5300?

Any smoke from exhaust? What was ur vafc tuned for before ur new setup? Try advancing the ignition and im sure those 2 car lengths will become -1

Dogginator is right about the vtec crossover and if ur getting black smoke and some back fire ur prolly running too rich. How about you take the afc out- remove all 12v current ithink theres 2 wires? Run your stock ecu ull still be running a little rich but closer to home. keep the ignition advanced and remember to jump the two lead connector by kick panel on p-side! Now rip on it and see what it does.

just curious, but wouldn't the GSR manifold creating the better low and mid range power be connected to the seconderys in it that not GSR cars dont have the ability to run anyway?

good question lowbudget but no you would not run the secondaries. Friends used to jam the secondaries open or some would weld them open- they said more flow but who knows. You wouldent need to hook up any sensors or linkage for the secondaries if u had a b16 manifold. I would plug the connector and cap the open vacuum line thou. Riced, you will need nothing

you probably lost because the b16 head lowered your compression. people mistake a poor mans type R in place of just slapping on a b16 head on a gsr block.

Cmon. This is an ECU issue, not a CR-related one.

It won't run significantly slower to cause the original issue. It's a tuning problem here.
