Default Weak VTEC???

Dude, my vtec is weak as hell right now... could it be the vtec cylinoid? there is a little bit of oil leaking from around the area, could that cause such a problem? Let me know...

lmao

weak VTEC...funny ****.

I doubt it's much...I mean ****, if there's anything seriously wrong with the system it does the best thing it should: Stops working. I've never seen a VTEC "work, but not work as strong as it should."

That's just kinda weird.

OP,

First off its called a vtec solenoid.

There is no such thing as a "WEAK VTEC". VTEC = Variable valve Timing and lift Electronic Control. Its going from low lobe to high lobe.

correct me if im wrong but ive always thought vtec was either engaged or not...theres no "weakness" or partial engagement to it. i think it all in your head.

you are correct it works or it doesnt work to answer your question though , you are probably just used to the power . my friend has a 300whp hatch and one day he said it felt down on hp , then he turned the boost up 2 psi and was happy then , but then he wasnt cause it went boom change your oil though VTEC works off of oil pressure and if you dont have enough oil you wont have enough pressure to activate it

I was thinking about this for a bit, then it hit me. Your car must be such an awesome hp machine that you must have spun the camshaft so fast that the valves couldn't open in time so you floated the valves to such an extend that they couldn't move at all and the tops of the rockers widdled down the VTEC lobes and now that they don't petrude as much when you hit VTEC you can barely tell. Must be it, damn 19,000 RPM revving. ******* piece of **** camshaft!!!!

On a more serious note: The reason your VTEC probably feels weak is because you're probably only hitting the powerband of the engine, you're probabling hitting your VTEC point, and the camshaft's staying with the regular lobes because there's something wrong with your VTEC and it's not engaging (at all...not partially) so you're just feeling the pickup b/c a honda/acura engine gets its power a bit later in the powerband. So your VTEC is probably down - which is weird, because like 99.9% of the time when your VTEC is fucked up you'll throw a CEL. It's not like a performance meter (VTEC), it's an YES or NO scenario, either it works or it doesn't, it doesn't work poorly.

Try checking for CEL's anyways even if it's not throwing one, see if it'll throw one when you jump the connector. Never know, might be one stored in the ECU if it came on once O.o Worth a try anyway.
