Default starting issue...

hey guys, i have an 89 civic std and im having a starting issue. when i turn the key to start it, nothing happens. i am able to bump start it though. im not throwing any codes. everything is hooked up, all the fuses are good, all the grounds are good, battery is new, cables are new, im stumped. something strange though, when i turn the key to the 'on' postition, i can hear the MAP sensor click like the main relay, is that normal? any help is appreciated

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM ON MY 91 EX ..CHECK FOR THE GROUND ON THE STARTER.( LIL BLACK WIRE THAT PLUGS IN YOUR STARTER)

thats there, that was the first thing i checked. i even pulled off the plug, re-stripped and put a new plug on it. thanks though

yes, the starter is good, its new. ive also had it tested, along with another starter i tried. how would i check the starter signal?

pull the starter out lay it on the tranny and turn the key to start if the starter spins its good if it dosent do **** check the conections

it doesnt do anything, as i said in my first post.

the connections are good, ive checked them at least 4 times.

put a test light on the little wire you repaired and have someone else turn the key as to start it and see if it gets power

i tried to jump the starter, all it did was spark. this is starting to **** me off. i took the starter to get it tested again, its fine. any other ideas?

Check the wire going to the Valve cover. I know if thats not on mine it wont start. ir will just click.

ignition switch is new, Maybe 6 months old. i checked all my grounds, they are all good and connected, valve cover, t-stat, battery, and tranny. im not even getting a click, i turn the key and i get nothing.

try jumping the terminals on the starter hook a wire from the BIG pos wire on the starter to the small spade terminal, if that doesnt do anything you need a new wire from the battery to the starter, it might be broken inside and not giving enough power the starter

Did you replace the key part or the wiring part of the Ignition switch?
The wire harness part of it goes bad and will act like that.

the whole thing on the ignition switch. i figured it out, the clutch sensor switch went bad. thanks for the help.
