IAB Butterflies question?
Ok, so my car seems sometimes a little sluggish, like it has lack of torque. It is an h22 4th gen. Well, when doing the h22 insall, I noticed there was a plug left over that didnt plug up anywhere,. It was right next to the knock sensor, but I have it plugged up. Well, my friend was telling me there should be a black box under there, and that is was runs the IAB's. so my question is, is this in fact the plug that is supposed to plug up to the black box under the IM, and secondly, will it throw a code, b/c I have not been throwing a code, other than a 5 and 23, which are knock sensor and MAP sensor.

now, there were two plugs. it seems like they both fit into the knock sensor. 1 reached just to the knock sensor, while ther other is about 1.5-2 inches longer.
how many wires go to the plug on the IAB's? is is 3 wire plug? and the knock sensor is a 1 wire plug, correct?
is there a plug on the black box on the underside of the IM?

here is a diagram of a complete IAB Control system from my repair manual, hope it'll help you to see which part you are missing from the system. You need to complete the system so it will close the flapper on the secondary intake under low RPM = more torque at low RPM.

incase that you find the part under the IM here is a vaccum diagram can help you to connect the right hose to the right hole.

your car could also be running sluggish from the other codes it's
throwing as well.

yeah...but i havent driven my car since the MAP sensor thing, i was trying to rewire the plug to lengthen the plug, and I clip a wire, and the plug shoots somewhere in the grass, and I have yet to see it.
I do think the knock sensor may have something to do with it. It runs in limp mode right?
and thanks for the diagram man, that helps out a lot, anow I just have to figure out what I am missing.

check out the other post thats made about the p28 ecu and h22a I have a diagram and how to on actuating the secondaries (IAB's) to the Vtec solenoid so when Vtec kicks your secondaries open.
The sluggish problem could be because your secondaries are open all the time...my car when the secondaries were wide open (not connected, NO IAB box) would be sluggish and bog going up hills etc. Your secondaries when closed at lower RPM like they are from the factory will increase torque at a lower RPM thus not having a boging or sluggish feeling. Hook the secondaries up and you will notice a difference also yes the only plugs back there I do believe are the knock sensor or the black box (IAB's/Secondaries)...

now for my next question? which models did the black box come on? and what all do I need to get?

I do believe the H23 had it as well so you will be looking for 92-96 Prelude SI model (H23) or SI VTEC model (H22A)
Sounds like you just need the black box and a small amount of vacuum lines...
