Default New here, have a question about a vtec head swap

Hey guys...

CLIFFNOTES: D15Z1 Head on D15B8 block for better fuel economy

I am looking for a VX civic.... and I can't find one in my area. What I can find is a CX for pretty cheap ($1500, needs a CV shaft, 190k). And also a VX head for $250. I want to mix the two. here is what i found so far:

I found some stats on the CX and VX engines. Most of it is completely contrdictory. They seem to be identical (compression, displacement, , other then the fact that the VX has a vtec head, which has twice as many valves (16/8).(club civic 5th gen specs).

I have also read that the 1992 civics and del sols have vtec compatible ECUs, but need to have the wires taken to the vtech compnents since the harness is missing those wires. (honda-tech thread #1513794, posted by inline4)

So I want to know if I need to do anything besides run wires to the new components. thanks guys

92's are prewired for VTEC, nothing to do with the ECU.

I think it would be worth your time to just find a d16 to swap in.

Well I am not going to tap the block for the oil line, get an ECU, a head, and the controller for another 8 MPG.... I decided this is not worth the time to do.
