If your tire size is 205/45 ZR 16 then
The 205 is the width in mm of the tire
The 45 is the % of the width, which is the sidewall height. (I believe)
The ZR is the speed rating. In this case, Z is meant for 145mph + (high speed)
and the R stands for radial.
16 is obviously the rim and tire size, in inches.

Yeah I have 205/45 on my EK. It works well and my car is just low enough where when I hit a big dip the wheel just barly rubs on the wheel well covers( one finger wheel gap). But it could go lower with 205/40's but at that point you gonna start to have more ground clearance issues and high centering on speed bumps and parking lot ramps.

considering 40's would be a lower profile tire, technically that would be stepping down. Nice one my friend, better luck next time.

205/40/16" rubber bands here
this is on a 99ej - ^^^^^ i don't have any ground clearance issues or tire rub. dropped 2" if theres any clearace issues i'd say it's with the damn mudflaps
