What size tire for a 16" Rim?
I was wondering what would be the best size tire?
16" Rota Slipstreams
205/40/16 or 205/45/16
Which size tire would give me good handling if it makes a diffrence? Will the size through off the odometer? They will be going on a 2000 Civic Si.

Re: What size tire for a 16" Rim? (2000_Civic_Si)
I run 205/45/16 on my Si. Tire diameter is about the same as stock, so the speedo is pretty accurate. I'd think the 205/40/16 might be a little short. Also not that many 205/40/16 tires.
The big problem with 16" wheels in general is the lack of choice in tires. There are a lot more decent 205/50/15s than 205/45/16s, and anything wider than 205 is probably gonna rub somewhere on a Civic. If you don't have the wheels yet that might be a consideration.

That is the reason I went from a 16 to a 15. Lack of perfect size tires that are performance oriented. Most of the 16s out there are either too big and will not fit under the fenderwells or cheese Nittos.
If you have 16x7" wheels I would pick 215/40x16" tires cause you will get a wider contact patch and better gearing for acceleration. Your speedo might be off by 2-3mph. I had 215/40x16" Yokohama A520s and Kumho 712s.

Here everyone, bookmark this link and figure what works best.
Personally, I would go with 215/45/16 Falken Azenis

Re: What size tire for a 16" Rim? (TypeSH)
On a 2000 Civic Si I used the 215/45x16" Azenis tires and they were HUGE! Falken's 205 tire should be a 215 and the 215 should be a 225. They rubbed bad on my car with 16x7.5" wheels and 43mm offset. I had 215/40x16" Kumho 712s and 215/40x16" A520s and they didn't even come close to rubbing.
