Default FYI: Oxygen sensor for Comptech, Hytech, SMSP, etc..

First, let me apologize to the ITR member that asked me about this about a month ago, I forgot who you are, so hopefully you will see this post.

The part number for the oxygen sensor that I used for my Comptech Race header is NGK/NTK part #24172.

For the rest of you looking and wondering what this post is about:

This oxygen sensor is the perfect replacement where you dont have to cut your stock sensor wires and extend them to reach the O2 bung. Perfect fit for my Comptech Long tube race header and probably would work for the other long tube race headers Hytech, Smsp, DTR, Weapon R, etc...

It is a direct plug-in with the factory plug. Wire length from top of sensor to plug is about 18" compared to stock about 5-1/2".

Also, If you dont need a sensor with longer wires and just looking for a stock replacement, this sensor costs about $50 (I got mines from ebay) compared to about $250 from the dealership. You'll just need to fold and tie wrap the extra length of wire.

Dunno if it helps others but for my SMS 1 Piece header, I didn't have to do anything for the o2, everything reached just fine. But thanks for the info, it may be different on the 3 piece or other headers.

the comptech race header places the o2 bung further towards the rear of the car then the steering rack.

The kamikaze header needs to be extended as well. I did it on my own, not knowing these exist.

Is it an actual plug and play or do you have to wire the sensor yourself?

Thanks
Nick

That is why you need to cut and extend the wires on the stock oxygen sensor OR do what I did and bought the NGK/NTK sensor, direct plug-in no splicing.

It's plug and play. No cutting, no splicing. All I did was unbolt my stock O2 sensor and than bolted on the new NGK/NTK sensor (it comes with anti-seize already on the threads), connected the O2 sensor plug to the factory plug, than added a tie wrap to keep the wires away from the header pipes. Thats it. 10-15 minute job (if your slow like me)

I think there is an older Accord with a long *** O2 also. Let me do some research.

the ngk oxygen sensor would still cost less than an OEM honda sensor.
