Default Opinions on driving lights, and proper driving illumination in general...

The Stock Driving lights are still available for my car but, should I look at a better/nicer setup?

I am certainly NOT into fake HID's or Blue bulbs. This is not a looks post. I am asking for constructive contributions in the way of proper driving illumination. Nothing that will blind oncoming traffic so Big *** HELLA Rally lights are out! And Doing a costly HID kit is not where I care to spend the extra $$$...

Is stock a good option or is there something of comparable pricing that will outperform Stock? AND Be RELIABLE... I hear and see countless posts of aftermarket bulbs blowing and of driving lights Not being reliable with connections and light failing.

Thanks for your help in advance.

I just did the 9005 SilverStar conversion. It was easy and only took a couple of hours to mod the housing on the bulb. Cost me 50 bucks. The color is definally not blue. The best way to describe the color is bright white. It puts out almost the same color as HID but definally not as much light. If you aim the lights correctly, you shouldn't blind traffic. I wore gloves when modifing the housing so I didn't touch the bulb at all. I think alot of people have bulbs breaking since they might have handled them the wrong way. One guy here has had them in for over a year and still work great. If you have any questions, send them my way.

I've had my 9006 Sylvania Cool Blues for almost two years already and have been very satisfied. They might not light up the road as bright as the 9005 Silverstars, but they did make a noticeable difference over stock. Even my dad noticed the increased brightness without knowing I switched bulbs. Besides having a visually whiter light (not a hint of blue despite being called "Cool Blues"), they light up the road better. Plus, they're inexpensive. I'll even go on to say that they're the best performing, least expensive, stock replacement bulbs you can buy.

Thanks to everyone with helpful advice.

Now, what do I need for this installation? Where can I order the bulbs? How much do they go for? Are they a special order? Can I get them at a local Auto Supply Shop?

And, is there a site or link to an illustration as to Exactly what I have to do for the bulb operation and transplant?

I would be VERY interested in modding the bulbs as Long as they last and don't have any reliability issues. I realize the care that must be taken when dealing with Halogen bulbs so we may move away from that issue. I am also interested since I don't really want any outward flashiness or added on modded looking car with MORE lights and such, so the bulbs would be a GREAT option.

Tell me more. Years ago when I purchased a few used Cop cars, I noticed that both the ones I bought had, had their bulbs shaved and modified to fit the High Beams in the Low beam sockets too! Kinda explains something I guess.

Whats the best way to fit the bulbs?

Thanks again.
