The 9005 conversion has been killed over and over many times but here it is you can buy the silver star at Auto Zone or Kragen not sure if Pepboy sell em. They cost $24.99 each. You will see the bulb when your shopping for em. You can't miss it their in a special neat package thats seal very tightly. Anyways heres the link enjoy http://www.bmwe34.net/E34main/Upgrade/More_light.htm

I just did the conversion and man what a difference it makes. But instead of filing or cutting the middle thing, i bought 9005 highbeam sockets and wired it in.

Actually 9006 bulbs are 51W and 9005 bulbs are 60W. The 55/65 is just a nominal rating. I would HIGHLY recommend you NOT use high wattage 9005 bulbs, that is just asking for trouble. I mean come on you're already getting 1700 lumens output vs. 1000, that's plenty for me, with no worries of blinding anyone or burning out wires or harnesses or anything.
Did the conversion tonight with a friend (using silverstars). Overall, very very satisfied. Do not expect the "HID" look, but what you end up with is a much better looking headlight, and much more light on the road..
overall very satisfied.
overall very satisfied.
what are the chances that in a couple of months everyone is going to be saying....."the silverstar conversion blew my electrical system?" i am interested in doing it, but i am always cautious when making something do a task that it was not originally designed for. i.e. power a higher wattage bulb.
