you need to have the system evacuated and vaccumed down, then after you do that, replace the reciever/dryer and vaccum the system down again. After you do that, you need to charge the system to the specified amount as indicated by the refrigerant label under your hood.
vaccum times should be NO LESS than 10 minutes each and DO NOT OVER CHARGE THE SYSTEM!
I suggest getting the A/C service done at a properly equipped shop with vaccum pumps and the such. ask them to vaccum down the system and then leave, then install your NEW dryer allowing as LITTLE time as possible having the inside exposed to atmosphere and then have the system re-vaccumed down and charged to the specified level.

if you lived close to me, I would do it for you for very cheap.
Try to find someone that is a mechanic and see if they have the capability to do it for you on the side. They should not charge you very much because it is extremely easy to do.

this may be a dumb qestion but why would the dryer have to be replaced i just want to know if its nessary so ic an get all the stuff together i need to get it done
the dryer is filled with a material known as dessicate. It is the same stuff that you find in the bottom of your bag of beef jerkey labeled "do not eat". Its purpose is to absorb moisture in the system so that it functions properly and so that your a/c compressor does not hydrolock (water does not compress very well).
When your system is opened for too long, the dessicate is ruined because it absorbs moisture from the atmosphere and leaves no more room for moisture absorbtion when the system is repaired. Look at it like a sponge, it can hold only soo much water before it rejects.
For that reason, is why I say to not let the new dryer stay exposed to atmosphere for very long (do not uncap it until you are seconds from installing it) otherwise it will be useless.
if you have any more questions, feel free to ask.......I do this for a living

If you want power out of your turbo don't run AC? What kind of crap is that? Also, did you see where the guy lives? Florida. HOT and STICKY *** Florida. Unless you have a track car or like the feeling of your *** sitting in a swamp and sweat running down your ***** in your daily driver, you don't get RID of AC when you live in places like that.
Plus the power gained from removing the AC and power steering is so tiny compared to the negatives of taking the two out.

why not? I have NEVER had any adverse effects from cleaning out the system before I installed new parts and serviced the system. I actually see more positives and almost no negatives to a properly cleaned system.
The easiest way to clean the system is take the lines loose and spray brake cleaner in the lines, then take compressed air and blow them dry. After you clean the system out completely, you must add the correct amount of a/c oil so that your compressor and such will not lock up.
If done correctly, I guarantee that you will have sub 43*F air coming from your vents

not to threadjack ....but maybe dirtysol can answer my a/c question...mine has brand new o-rings,dryer,condensor,all oem honda parts..and it will only blow cold after I get up to highway speeds. It also feels as if it boggs my car down way to much???? My brothers EM1 blows ice cold all the time..idle,etc. so could this be the compressor going bad, over/under charged, ????

I said no because you said you HAVE to do it.
Not true. Unless the compressor mechanically seized up or there's reason to believe that there are shavings in the lines there's absolutely no reason to flush out your system.
